Exciting times in fantasy land.
Impressions:
I hadn’t really processed that I had cast aside basically everything but the Thursday and Friday shows this season, but I guess here we are. And it’s unfortunate that I’ve flipped through all the Friday shows for today and all their second episodes are pretty poor. I think I’d probably call this one the best of the lot, but it’s a tossup between it and Twilight Hotel, which I guess will be the other thing I post about today. Apothecary Diaries was just another boring episode of Maomao puttering around. The same as I’ve seen too many times before and am not eager to repeat. The Guild Receptionist thing just continued to repeat its title as its only joke, except now pretty much everybody knows who she is, so she has to keep saying it even more and even louder.
This, on the other hand, was a boring episode of listening to pompous chonky priests rant out their life stories and/or how much they love torture. Also not exactly new, nor interesting, but at least slightly different. Fat old dudes ranting about how they should rule the world and its their right to do whatever they want is something I get enough of in reality, thanks. And a sobbing little elf boy isn’t about to stab a wall to defeat… I don’t even know what he defeated, to be honest. Some rocks fell, and a baddie or two died, though all the protagonists just pissed off having accomplished their…wall stabbing. Great. Good job, team. Mostly, this is making me miss and think back fondly to Bye, Bye Earth and how every episode was a fresh descent into utter incomprehensibility and madness. Not a good place to be.
