Did we get into the drugs for this episode?
Impressions:
The humor in this episode was very bizarre. They clearly understood how ridiculous the other hero was with his power of “standing up straight,” but kept playing things really seriously, even while making gags about his crippling weakness being “anything requiring bending over.” How is he even a hero? He can’t even defeat a toilet. Like the whole “save the statue or save the girl” schtick. That’s the actual moral dilemma we’re hinging our climax on? It’s a statue. Even Booster Gold would only waffle slightly. Also, outright splattering a speedster accidentally is some real Invicible or The Boys level of hyper-violence considering that the show has been PG rated at worst thus far. And are we going to just gloss over his arch nemesis being some girl living in a sewer printing mean doujins about him? Because she was bullied for… being the wrong kind of fan? Everything around Firm Man, or “Mister Stand” in Japanese was really weird in general.
On the up side, Nice did continue to develop better as a character, and this is more of the classic Western Spiderman or Batman kind of thing where he wasn’t really the focus, but still played the pivotal role of both the big reveal because of his humanity as well as saving the… statue. Okay, that last part was still pretty damn stupid. I’m also not the biggest fan of the cliffhanger. I think they’ll actually commit to it this time, unlike the episode 1 cliffhanger, but it also undos the episode 2 ending and development to bring her right back, and into costume even. Did he dress her in that just to make sure people knew it was her? That’s… also pretty damn weird.
