Just going around Megaman-ing the entire demon world, huh?
Impressions:
As ever, the story is fine, but the storytelling remains very lacking. The demon turns out to be the dude’s wife, who was raped and murdered, so wanted revenge on men and to ‘become pretty’ again. Okay, fine. Good twist tying things together. Except the way it was conveyed was by abruptly going to the demon’s point of view and have it announce that it wanted revenge on men and to eat/become women. This is where we should’ve instead found its grotesque lair like Silence of the Lambs Buffalo Bill of it trying to wear their skin or something and started being able to put it together ourself. That would be a much more organic path to the reveal while still leaving out the missing piece that his wife is the only female victim that wasn’t eaten, so wasn’t one of its victims.
Instead, we spend most of the first half of the episode on dates, which means that around two thirds of the episode was spent either on a date or in a flashback. Both a long re-run of the one last week, and the girl from episode 2 shows up again out of nowhere to also flirt with him a bit before vanishing into the ether. Then we have the stinger, of the two rapist dudes loudly announcing how much they love raping and murdering women, especially the ones who scream their husband’s names. It’s hard to take it seriously when it’s this ridiculous.
