This entire episode didn’t make an iota of sense.
Impressions:
This arc continues to be astonishingly terrible. The only slightly positive thing was that they finally animated an action scene again… but it was so horribly set up and pointless. I’ve gone all dark and angsty over my friend’s death, which is why I’m going to take revenge on some random other guy. And everybody is cheering him on for being the new hero because………. Why again exactly? He’s beaten up like four random thugs in total and was immediately laid low by the first scandal. Why is he challenging the real E Soul at all? Why is he accepting? How is any of this heroic or helps find the killer again?
You just had an entire episode where you had a panic attack because of internet faux scandal, and now that’s the trump card you’re using to cheat against this guy? Hiring a troll farm to spam on message boards? There was one brief moment where he seemed to realize that he intentionally hesitated out of jealousy because he wanted the dude gone, and then he uses that to declare no more of that. So you can straight up murder a dude for no reason whatsoever? And the crowd loves it? I’m sorry, but what. Public opinion does not operate under Highlander rules where if you kill your rival, all their fans become yours. Then we come to the big reveal that it’s the cafe store owner who’s the evil mastermind behind everything that also moonlights as an evil CEO. Which apparently our hero either knew about all along, or just didn’t care when he gets the penthouse suite. So I guess this is this little bastard’s supervillain origin story then? For some random CEO to raise up a trash dude to become… just a generic thug exactly like the other ones he already had? What are we even doing here?
