Crunchyroll acquires worldwide theatrical rights to “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved” with plans for a cinema release

Crunchyroll have recently announced that they have acquired the worldwide cinematic distribution rights to Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved, which is a feature-length-film and continuation of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid anime series.

Animated by Kyoto Animation, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved takes place right after the events of season 2 (known as ) and sees Kanna Kamui facing a major dilemma, a decision to leave with her biological dragon family or stay with her newfound human family.

Synopsis: Miss Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, and Iruru’s peaceful lives are shattered when Kanna’s father, Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, arrives and forces her to return to the Dragon World to fix a past mistake. With a war brewing between Chaos and Harmony, Kanna must find a way to unite the two worlds but is torn between her loyalty to her friends and her father’s demands. Miss Kobayashi, however, refuses to let her go and tries to mend Kanna and Kamui’s broken bond. As dragons clash, Iruru uncovers a hidden force manipulating the war. Can they stop the war before it consumes both worlds?

While Crunchyroll did confirm acquisition of the film for a worldwide cinematic release the distributor have (at the time of writing) currently only confirmed a North American release with details of other territories and release dates to follow in the near future. It is expected however that the film will only be screened in Japanese with English subtitles worldwide.

In the meantime both seasons of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid are available to stream in dubbed and subbed format on Crunchyroll in the UK, with the series also available on Blu-Ray in the UK.
