Ah, minor body horror.
Impressions:
I was feeling better about this around the halfway point than I was by the end. I think both the support for each other but also complete disrespect that all the characters have is just a dynamic that I appreciate since it’s disturbingly rare in anime. It kind of reminds me of ZKC, and some of the more tolerable fanservice harem things. Plus, despite the little expository lessons about yokai, we’re still blissfully light on exposition, especially around the characters themselves. It feels nice to be at least a little bit organic.
But the back half of the episode got really shrieky and put a damper on much of that, along with the idea that the humor was more quips and conversation rather than overreactions and yelling. Not anywhere near the level of, say, Panty and Stocking, which I unwisely glanced at yet again, but the yelling here was in distress, so it was extra ear-piercing. Or maybe I’m still just making peace with all the action shows having disappointed and everything attempting to have writing fouling it up immensely, so minor competency feels welcome. Blegh.
