Cygames have today released Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, a 2D anime styled fighting game developed by Arc System Works and based upon the Granblue Fantasy franchise, digitally onto the PlayStation Store (for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5) as well as Steam (for Windows PC). But that’s not all, as surprisingly a FREE EDITION is also available to download on both platforms.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is the sequel to the 2020 game Granblue Fantasy Versus (of which was released by Cygames in Japan, XSEED Games in the US and Marvelous Europe in Europe) and expands upon the previous game with new characters, new game modes, revised gameplay, and lots more fun.
The surprising aspect of this release is that a FREE EDITION of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also available to download on the respective platforms. This FREE EDITION gives access to Gran and 3 Rotating Characters, as well as basic offline and online multiplayer functionality in addition to Grand Bruise Legends Mode and Chapter 1 of Story Mode. The FREE EDITION is realistically designed to allow newcomers to experience the game or those wishing to join friends online without having to buy the full version. It is a similar approach to what KOEI TECMO did with Dead or Alive, but this seems to be a more generous offering and players can only upgrade to the full version of the game (rather than buying individual pieces of DLC).
Regardless, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is now available digitally for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. The Free Edition of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also available to download for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Further details relating to the game can be found on the official website.
