MVM Entertainment have today announced that they plan to release a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray version of Samurai Champloo on 17th June 2024, with this set containing the series on Blu-Ray alongside a selection of Art Cards. A standard Blu-Ray set was released nearly ten years ago (on 24th November 2014), and is still available at retailers.
Pre-orders for this Collector’s Edition have started on Anime-On-Line as an early bird deal, with the promotional price being the same as the standard edition Blu-Ray set at £29.99. The regular RRP for this Collector’s Edition set will be £49.99 once the promotional deal has ended. At the time of writing it is unclear what the packaging, or art cards, will look like; but the disc contents will most likely be the same as those previously released by MVM Entertainment in the UK.
About: Death, betrayal, and…. hip hop! Mugen’s a buck wild warrior: violent, thoughtless and a womaniser. Jin is a vagrant ronin: mysterious, traditional, well-mannered and very strong. These two fiercely independent warriors couldn’t be more different from one another, yet their paths cross when Fuu, a ditzy waitress, saves them from being executed when they are arrested after a violent swordfight. Fuu convinces the two vagrant young men to help her find a mysterious samurai “who smells of sunflowers.” And their journey begins.
This isn’t the first time that MVM Entertainment have re-released Samurai Champloo in a different form, as four years ago (in 2020) the distributor released a steelbook edition of the series, of which is now out of print. Before that, in 2014, the standard Blu-Ray set was made available and is still widely available today. Regardless, Collector’s Edition fans will be able to get their hands on this Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray of Samurai Champloo from 17th June 2024.
