Anime Limited, otherwise known as All The Anime, have recently confirmed that the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy will be making its way to 4K UHD Blu-Ray on the 24th June 2024 with pre-orders now being accepted on the AllTheAnime Store.
Originally announced at last years MCM London Comic Con the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy 4K UHD Blu-Ray Collection will have an SRP of £119.99 and see the original three compilation films, of which recap the events of the original 1979 anime series, presented in a new 4K Ultra High Definition resolution in Japanese (Dolby Atmos 5.1 & Dolby Mono) with English subtitles.
As shown in the beauty shot each film will be on its own 4K UHD disc, with each disc in its own Blu-Ray case. All three cases will slide into a rigid art box along with a 68-page booklet known as “Beyond the Universal Century”. According to the product page this booklet is a comprehensive guide to the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and contains character art and details, storyboards, and a host of interviews and articles officially translated into English for the first time. The booklet also includes discussion on Mobile Suit Gundam from creator and executive director Yoshiyuki Tomino, animation directors Tetsuro Araki and Shunichi Yoshizawa, and producer Naohiro Ogata.
Interestingly this 4K UHD Blu-Ray Trilogy Collection will not include the Standard Blu-Ray Editions of the Movie Trilogy, of which Anime Limited have released in the past. Previous 4K UHD Blu-Ray releases from Anime Limited, such as Future Boy Conan, ONE PIECE FILM RED, and Your Name have included both 4K UHD Blu-Ray and Standard Blu-Ray discs, so it is interesting that this collection will only contain the 4K UHD Discs.
Regardless, the Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy 4K UHD Blu-Ray Collection is expected to release on 24th June 2024 with pre-orders available through AllTheAnime Store.
