Crunchyroll Brings Anime to the International Animation Film Festival of Annecy Next Month

Crunchyroll have recently announced that they will be bringing anime to the International Animation Film Festival of Annecy in France by giving BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE  -EPISODE NAGI- it’s international premiere, submitting Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead into the TV Films competition category, and having Michel Berger (Senior Vice President, Global Commerce) host a panel discussing anime at the festival.

While this news doesn’t bring new licenses for the UK market, it is interesting to hear that Crunchyroll will be attending the Animation Film Festival in France and doing activities there to promote anime. Details of Crunchyroll’s activities at the festival can be found in the quoted text (taken from the press release) below:

The International premiere of the he highly anticipated soccer anime film scheduled in the new program “Annecy Presents” 

SYNOPSIS

“That’s a hassle.” That was second-year high schooler Nagi Seishiro’s favorite phrase as he lived his dull life. Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi’s hidden skill, inspiring him to play soccer and share his outstanding talent. One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious BLUE LOCK Project. What awaits him there is an encounter with the finest strikers assembled from across the country. Nagi’s dream of becoming the best, alongside Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he’s never known. 

A prodigy can only be shaped when someone discovers him….now, striker Nagi Seishiro’s incredible talent and persona will set the soccer world ablaze..

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

The first episode, which streamed in 2023 on Crunchyroll, takes part in the official competition in the TV Films category.
