The sci-fi romance visual novel Muv-Luv, and it’s sequel Muv-Luv Alternative, are now available as remastered editions on the Nintendo Switch and can be purchased digitally on the Nintendo eShop within Europe and North America.
Both games were originally released in Japan onto Windows PC before receiving ports onto the PlayStation Vita. in 2016 the games were localized into English for Windows PC, with help from a Kickstarter Campaign, and in 2018 the PlayStation Vita ports were distributed in Europe and North America by PQube Games. These Nintendo Switch releases of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative retain all of the original contents, but feature quality-of-life improvements for the Nintendo Switch platform.

Takeru is your average high school senior whose entire world gets turned upside down one morning when he awakens to find himself in bed with the heiress to one of the world’s largest conglomerates. She calls herself Meiya, and – despite never having met him before – she insists that the two of them are destined for one another. This comes much to the chagrin of his childhood friend Sumika, the girl next door who’s always had feelings for him, who realizes that if she doesn’t act fast, she might just lose him forever. But just who is Meiya? And do his feelings for Sumika run deeper than he thought? But it seems that fate has bigger plans for Takeru, because after a disastrous failure, he wakes up to find himself back in his childhood bedroom once again. Not in his own world, mind you — but back where he was three years prior. This is no dream; this is a recurring nightmare. But then it hits him: this is a second chance. Perhaps he can use his knowledge to warn Professor Kouzuki, and together, they can somehow find a way to prevent Alternative V from ever being enacted. If he can change history, then maybe — just maybe — he’ll find the answers to all of his questions. Why has he gone back in time? Why isn’t Sumika here? And most importantly, what IS Alternative IV?
Both Muv-Luv Remastered and Muv-Luv Alternative Remastered are available to purchase individually from the Nintendo eShop or can be purchased as a bundle collection. a 10% launch discount is also in effect until 31st July 2024. In Japan a physical release of the collection is also available, and according to Japanese Nintendo eShop page it should support English text.
