Japanese developer and publisher Bliss Brain have today released the strategic simulation game Princess Maker 2 Regeneration digitally onto the Nintendo Switch (via Nintendo eShop) and Windows PC (via Steam), with a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 version due out on 8th August 2024.
Princess Maker 2 Regeneration is an enhanced remake of Princess Maker 2, a game originally released in 1993 for the PC-9801 in Japan by GAINAX (yep, that GAINAX) before being ported to other platforms, and celebrates the games 30th Anniversary on modern platforms. Coincidentally the original Princess Maker 2 received a modern Windows PC port, known as Princess Maker 2 Refine, on Steam with some quality of life improvements in 2016, but history aside this is the first time that the game will be available on consoles outside of Japan.
Princess Maker 2 Regeneration is described as a strategic simulation RPG where players take on the role of the girls farther and help raise her until her eighteenth birthday, to which she will begin her own journey. As part of this, rather unique, experience players can monitor and increase their daughters skills, such as combat, education, work and etiquette, and can receive one of multiple endings depending on her upbringing. It’s a strategic simulation RPG with a twist, and the decisions you make can change her future.
In addition to retaining the core gameplay, Takami Akai has drawn new art for the game that helps recreate that original experience found on the PC-9801 version of the game, and a new gallery mode will also allow players to re-experience these moments. Takami Akai is also grateful to be able to redrawn moments from the game, as seen in this translated message:
“I am deeply grateful to see that “Princess Maker 2”, which came out 30 years ago, is still so beloved by so many fans that we can release a new version. This time I was finally able to redo the graphics, which I had always wanted to do. Please enjoy the newly redrawn vacations and endings!”
Princess Maker 2 Regeneration is now available digitally for the Nintendo Switch (via Nintendo eShop) and Windows PC (via Steam), with a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 version due out on 8th August 2024. A 10% launch discount is also available until 17th July 2024 for the Windows PC (Steam) version of the game.
