They’ve just got a glowing Excalibur in a giant pyramid right outside the front door?
Impressions:
Seven or eight years ago, this would have been just one of a half dozen indistinguishable light novel adaptations about a dude with a magic sword in a squad of action teenagers that are mostly hot babes. Nowadays, it’s sort of distinguishable from everything else by NOT having RPG stats or being a reincarnation, but that’s about it. If you want to compare it to things like Chrome Shelled Regios, Anti-Magic Academy, uh… Unbreakable Machine Doll… it’s lacking on every front. You’d have to go to something like… I guess Chained Slave, and swap all its T&A and half-assed fight scenes for a very marginal amount more seriousness.
The fanservice is nonexistent. The action is barely animated and doesn’t really exist. The story is… well, let’s just say that the opening scene is a chained up girl while the protagonist screams out the premise of the show in anguish. Which is also the cliffhanger. So it doesn’t cover a ton of ground either. Dude is in anti-demon squad. Oops, now it’s a different apocalypse world where nobody remembers anything. Also, magic sword and chained up moaning half-breed out of nowhere. So even if it’s a little more serious, it’s not much more cohesive than its ilk either.
