Kowloon Generic Romance #01 — Pulsating Rhomboid

Not sure I was expecting all the bubblegum pop.

Impressions:

I don’t know why, but I chuckled every time they cut to the pulsating rhomboid hovering over the city. Sure, this conversation about restaurants and OCD behaviors is interesting, but what does the rhomboid think? *pulses* Fantastic. I can’t say it was the most interesting or exciting episode. She idly flirts with her co-worker while going on totally platonic dates with him while they and/or background characters gossip about all the mass clone projects going on and mysterious feelings of deja vu everything gives them. How do you feel about that, pulsating rhomboid? *pulses* Wonderful. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I think my main issue is that the lead lady is just dull. Mainly because she’s so uninterested in everything herself. Gee, it’s weird how my eyes are suddenly fixed, I keep feeling like I’ve done all this before, and I appear to have been mindwiped or am a clone. Well, c’est la vie. She also lacks chemistry with him since her reaction to everything is to stare blankly. Something she has in common with the pulsating rhomboid. *pulses* A slow burn on the plot or grand conspiracy is fine, but you’ve got to make the moment to moment interactions engagng too, and that’s where I feel this episode struggles more.
