Seed Lab, developers of the upcoming anime-styled life-sim game Starsand Island, have recently released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming game which is in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (via Steam). That’s not all, as the developers will soon be launching a Kickstarter campaign to secure additional funds so that extra content can be added to the game.
Starsand Island looks to take inspiration from cozy life-sim games such as STORY OF SEASONS, RUNE FACTORY and ANIMAL CROSSING, in which players will be able to develop relationships with other characters, grow crops and nurture animals on the farm, as well as customize their life through various mechanics. All of which offering a colourful and relaxing visual style that takes inspiration from manga and anime.
About: In Starsand Island, players can embark on a journey of personal healing as they return to the island home of their childhood and settle into the calming idyll by farming, fishing, raising animals, and building connections with quirky local characters. With an extensive DIY building and customization system, players can truly shape their island paradise — and even invite friends along to help craft the ultimate getaway.
The newly released trailer, which is acting as a reintroduction to the game for existing fans and newcomers, was unveiled at inaugural Galaxies showcase in which new details for upcoming games were revealed. Being part of this event was also something that the developers, Richardo Wang, and Golton Gao, were proud to be apart of.
“We’re incredibly excited to reintroduce Starsand Island to the world and debut our brand-new trailer as part of the inaugural Galaxies showcase,” said Richardo Wang, Game Producer at Seed Lab. “This is a project that means a lot to our team, and we can’t wait for players to get a deeper look at the world we’re building. Galaxies feels like the perfect place to share what’s next for Starsand Island and the journey ahead.”
“We’ve poured so much love into crafting an experience that’s all about comfort, creativity, and connection,” added Seed Lab producer Golton Gao. “Starsand Island is the kind of game we wish we had growing up—a peaceful escape where players can express themselves, explore at their own pace, and build something meaningful, either solo or with friends.”
In addition to the new trailer Seed Lab have also confirmed plans to launch a kickstarter campaign for the game, with funds being used to add additional content, such as a customizable ocean park, to the game. Specific details on the Kickstarter have not yet been provided, but those that back the project will be reward in some capicity.
For the time being at least Starsand Island is in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (via Steam) release with the game expected during Winter 2025. A steam page is also available with additional details about the game.
