Anime Limited & PLAION Pictures acquire “The Last Blossom” for Cinema and Home Video release

Anime Limited (All The Anime) and PLAION Pictures, in partnership with PONY CANYON, have today announced that they have acquired the distribution rights to the film The Last Blossom for the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland.

The Last Blossom is an upcoming anime film, animated by CLAP Animation Studio (Pompo the Cinephile), by Kazuya Konomoto and featuring character designs Baku Kinoshita, with the film set to screening in Japanese cinemas later this year. The film will also make its world premiere at Annecy this summer.

Synopsis: “What a pathetic life it’s been.”

An elderly inmate serving a life sentence awaits a lonely death in his solitary cell—until a voice calls out to him. It belongs to a balsam flower, Housenka, that speaks like a human.

Through their “conversation”, the old man begins to reflect on the life he’s led.

The acquisition of The Last Blossom means that Anime Limited will release the film into cinemas across the UK, Ireland and France at some point in the future (most likely towards the end of the year) with a home video (Blu-Ray and DVD) release to follow shortly after. The Germany, Australia and Switzerland release of the film will most likely be handled by PLAION Pictures.
