Didn’t they have an entire basement of robot corpses to loot?
Impressions:
I definitely lost the thread of this episode multiple times. Which, sure, was kind of the point, but it could’ve been a relatively regularly constructed episode about things changing and moving on without her, things being better being different, so on and so forth. A very standard sitcom kind of episode. And that was indeed the script. But someone didn’t tell the animators and they still had a taste for the Dragonball fights from a couple episodes back, so they animated that instead. With no way to get from point A to point B, they settled for doing both simultaneously.
And abruptly at that. Girl went straight from being upset about shampoo hats being gone to carpetbombing the landscape. There really should’ve been more in between “stuff is different” and “I can’t handle change, break out the napalm” even for slapstick, but especially if you’re going to spend the next eight minutes yelling about how emotional it all is. Commit to the parody or commit to the characters. Half-assing both does service to neither, and screaming all the big feelings you had for three times as long as you even had them because we kept timeskipping across them is sacrificing development for melodramatic speeches.
