And the fourth horsemen of godawful anime comedies rears its ugly head, adding overreactions to over-explaining, silly faces, and loud noises. At the very least, if she’s going to be screaming her head off, keep the extra porny original joke from the manga. That wasn’t “woman sitting at bar,” but “woman having her insides rearranged.” A joke it was so excited about that it returned to it two more times across the next six minutes in between simply screaming randomly. It was a struggle to get through it. I question how I was ever able to survive these yelly comedies at all.
And as with the theme of all the comedies this season, it doesn’t use its premise of being about manga in any way. It’s just the subject to briefly mention to fill the gap in between yelling. Nothing would need to be done to change anything if it were to be about songwriting, cooking, or drug smuggling instead. Just another Japanese Business Inc. Let’s make some damn sausage here. Do something interesting. Show some actual passion for the medium in GA Art Class did. Or just yell. Loudly and repeatedly.
