Photo from my Holiday (Look at that ocean)
Well howdy there has been some time since last post but I am all refreshed from a good break and that we will be back on track now.
Glorious spring here finally in Aus and it’s been in Devine but I acknowledge that it is pumpkin spice latte season for the other hemisphere. This time of year more than others always throws me off every time because all the fall cozy on social media reminds me of the fall UK days of old home. But I’m ready for some sun and a not too hot season for now.
Let’s see what anime I have completed for this round, which is quite a few.
Moonrise
There was no plan for this new netflix series but it caught my interest immediately when finding out animation was by Wit Studio. The last space anime I watched was Astra Lost In Space haha too long. You know when a series just looks cool that’s what moonrise oozed upon first impression, and I did enjoy the ride even though there were some shortcomings. It is a shame there is to say that as the animation and characters I thought were great but it’s the second of the plot everything takes a weird angle. I was left sitting going what is going here, the excitement on the few last episodes began to fade away slightly. Despite that I was emotionally invested with the main tragedy that caused main character Jack’s life to change, during the heavy parts plenty of comic relief moments were appreciated. There were a few parts that made me laugh quite hard which I was not expecting, many characters full of sass and wit. Moonrise took me on a space adventure all in all and still binged to the end, if you love space animation then even a watch is worth it here.
Shugo Chara (rewatch) (still going on)
I am supposed to do a podcast episode here for this but that will be held off now till November or December because your girl here forgot how long this series is!! I have only just finished the first season of 50 episodes. When you’re an adult it is hard to rewatch stuff honestly but I am making an effort here for this one as Shugo Chara was one of the first magical series I ever watched. I adore and love muchly for what this series stands for, about what our future selves would look like, what potential there is, so much so we have these things called charas that represent that potential identity. Amu Hinamori ends up with three charas and her world caught up on becoming a guardian at her school, a lot for a fifth grader to handle. I knew I needed this rewatch because the ride has been beyond nostalgia, I have personally cosplayed Amu twice in my life so that says a lot.
This magical girl series has all the fun, magic and laughter. Honestly I forgot how funny it was from the character interactions. It makes me so excited to finally talk about it on a podcast like it deserves. As I said it won’t be coming till November or December, I need time to finish this shit haha.
My Sister Betrothed To My Sisters Ex
I love comfort and easy watches, this one fits the bill. Following a cinderella like formula we follow Marie, a slave to her noble family and her sister Anastacia the favourite child. Anastacia is never married off to her betrothed; she dies in a carriage which then Marie is served up as the replacement. Marie has lived a closed off life from knowing what it means to live and love someone betrothed to prince Kyros, Marie is exposed to the fruits of life.
What made me love this series was Kyros, his smitten infatuation with Marie, total love boy. His expressions are to fawn and laugh over. He really was adorable in his courtship towards Marie, still a gentleman. The only thing that failed her a bit was a satisfying conclusion towards Marie treatment for what her family did to her, they got a slap on the wrist. There should have been a more fitting punishment in my opinion, there are enough evil people to deal with in the real world, the anime could have given me some satisfaction hey.
As you can guess what I am going to say here I did really enjoy myself here, if you are a fan of Happy Marriage this might be a good option if you are trying to fill a void after watching that amazing series.
Dr Stone Part 2 Future World
God we are so close to the finish for this one, I was crying nearly every episode here as the science kingdom is so close to discovering how the whole earth was petrified. Dr Stone on the surface doesn’t have an alluring premise of the whole earth being petrified and turned to stone but the characters sell the premise. The characters are why I love this series, especially Senku. His big brain and curiosity for all things I find inspiring and is a reminder that being curious about the unknown is such a vital thing I find in the world of today.
I’ve loved this season so much and watching one of the hardest parts of the series that caused me to ball my eyes out. Without a doubt this series is one of my favourite shonen of all time. To think from watching the first episode all those years ago and not picking it up till later on and I fell in love with it then. Well it was just meant to be then I guess.
Secrets Of A Silent Witch
Two completed seasons! Who is this !?! During the summer season I actually completed something. My anime watching lately has been decently cramping in when I can and Secrets Of A Silent Witch I am going to class as my Halloween watch honestly because I might not have time for anything else. This series was a real surprise. Honestly the level of tense moments along with easy going comedy flowed beautifully. Following Monica who is known among seven mages as the silent witch due to her spell craft of no use of words, magic summoned through silence. She is tasked with body guarding a royal and has to enrol in the same academy as them, Monica and anxiety issues are about to clash.
Monica is a strong female to relate to with her anxiety and encompassing the use of no words with her craft. I feel this character trait combination showcases her true strength when her hands are tied in a scenario and she is able to let her real self show. Monica is a character hard not to love and instant love honestly, nothing short of plot and magic embedded in this series. I really enjoyed this series. The animation was beautiful, everything worked for it. If intensely spooky is not your thing during this Halloween period, definitely think this will be a good choice for you. I am not craving intensely this spooky period, but cozy watches so this was a good choice for me.
So nice to be typing on my keyboard once again, I barely have used it for hobbies this year only towards my study which is coming to end early next year. Then I look forward to hardcore diving into my hobbies once again, no more studying for a while. Podcast is the next thing for me get back on track with and then complete a AMvV that’s been sitting in the vault for a while.
See you next post!
