Can I Ask a Final Entreaty? #07 — European Hot Spring Matsuri Festival

…What.

Impressions:

The one-two punch of both ostensibly action shows which have completely lost their way doing yukata date episodes back to back is really making me want to pitch both into the bin. I can’t even say which was overall worse. This one at least had some punching, but again, she just literally picks a random direction, blows up a building, and then declares that everybody inside is an evil terrorist. And continues to magically be right every single time. Given the state of the *waves hands* the world, a story about the royal family violently thwarting insidious evil secretly lurking around every corner through their divine mandate isn’t very appealing, and the issue with it isn’t that upon being punched, they start screaming out how evil they are.

But hey, that’s an entire paragraph on the first three minutes of the episode, which is itself a big goddamned problem, because the entire rest of the episode is yet another date. In this medieval European setting, it’s time for a traditional Japanese festival, complete with yukatas, chochin lanterns, okame masks, the works. Eat your soba, Duke von Fancyshire. The cultural mess is almost enough to distract you from most of it being a lovey dovey date between her brother and a kid. Oh those silly royals. Good thing they’re beating up the right criminals.
