Stop making super powers boring.
Impressions:
Ah, yes. The gothic school for angsty teens, famous for not having vampires. Just entire clubs of super powered teenagers. And since this is… what it is… the club is like eight dudes and the girl protagonist, each with a different hair color and themed power. But they’re totally not vampires, because that’s not allowed. School rules. It was… not an exciting episode. But it sure did have a lot of pretty boys all hovering around the protagonist, the center of everybody’s world.
And I feel confident in saying that because while I was never a huge fan, I socially associated with people who were big fans of the whole Buffy, Supernatural, Charmed, Vampire Diaries amalgamation, and anime always fails to capture the soap opera appeal of them. The sex, wanton violence, and episode to episode craziness that used to be needed to capture ratings and sell issues of TV Guide. “Nothing happens, but maybe next week!” What kind of first episode or premise is that to get excited about? This was your elevator pitch. Your twenty minute elevator pitch. And it only got as far as “vampires exist, kids have powers. Next week, they might use them… MIGHT.”
