Out of ideas, huh?
Impressions:
The re-tour through the characters continues with a repeat of the pink one. Which was one of the better initial ones, but not the second go round. Instead of pretending like he’s dating her, he pretends like he’s dating one of them, but instead of a series of comedic things, we just get the non-kiss scene that we’ve already gotten multiple times before, only ridiculously drawn out. Nor is it helped by everybody acting completely over the top, including the new ‘good’ actress character, who’s schtick is that she obnoxiously overreacts to everything, complete with her own peanut gallery to narrate her every thought and how she’s overreacting.
It’s just a repetitive episode that leans in heavily to the dumb drama. I don’t think the premise is completely unsalvageable, but it needed a couple extra twists on top. Like if their plan was to pretend that he was secretly dating all of them, which she easily saw through, and then spring the inner second plan that he was ‘actually’ dating one of them. That would’ve provided more opportunity for some varied gags with each as well instead of milking the single one, with extra explanation for the plan to pad out the time. But it’s still a repeat, in both premise and content, so we are painfully in the mid-season doldrums, and not seeming like escape is happening soon.
