Even as a waxy individual, the ear cleaning thing will be forever weird to me.
Impressions:
It’s… certainly another episode. I feel like it should be introducing something new every week, be it character, situation, whatever. It’s fanservice stupidity. Why stew in repetition? It’s clearly aware of different fetishes and weird stuff, whether smell, ear cleaning, maids, etc. The whole ear cleaning orgasm thing was also a pretty significant escalation over everything else. You just orgasmed from your ear, and now you’re flipping out over noses touching? The very low bar for consistency and cohesion is not being reached.
The second half was lame all around. We don’t need to be montaging through cliches to announce that they’re cliches and then yell when the cliches go wrong. Despite not doing so really since nothing plays the cliches perfectly straight any more, and even when they do, it’s only because the joke is someone then announcing the cliche. Or yelling at all, for that matter. The humor and characters work a lot better when characters chill the hell out, which this episode had very little of. The whole last bit would’ve worked better if he hadn’t reacted to her at all, aside from the poking at the end. Still lets her escalate the fanservice, possibly even funnier with him ignoring it, preserves his character and the final punchline, just no screaming. But no. The overreaction is the joke and the fanservice is just there to give an excuse to yell. Priorities are screwed.
