What a surprising thing that was already revealed last week in the preview.
Impressions:
Meh. Aside from the full front nipple-less shot, a pretty unnotable episode, and even that’s more notable just because straight up sanding off the nipples is such a weird way to censor things. He morphs between female and male versions depending on who he last touched and… is pissy at Claude for THE MYSTERIOUS INCIDENT that we will keep alluding to and not explain for probably the next 8 episodes. It’s obnoxious and dumb when every other show does it, and it’s obnoxious and dumb here. And especially with it being resolved by him simply saying “I had a reason.” Yes, obviously.
That’s it? That’s really all we’re getting? Sidelining Spica for a bit to focus on other characters is 100% great, but only if you actually develop them. Oh, and his magic looks extra magical apparently. Whatever the hell that even means. You put a bunch of effort into animating him getting swept down the river and cheaped the hell out on the CGI bugs and fighting them with three amazing stills and then a declaration that those were supposed to have represented a protracted and hardfought battle, only to have the big dazzling magic be a bunch of straight lines in the sky. …Cool.
