They were correct that this epilogue was entirely unnecessary.
Impressions:
Can’t say I expected anything different, or better. Instead of the comeback, we get an alternate ending where she fake-died way before that, everyone spontaneously got over all their issues on their own, and got jobs or wandered off to Milan. Oh wait, or maybe not. Psyche. Just another possible ending that could be… or couldn’t be! We’re not telling. The nihilism is I guess on point, but it’s a very unsatisfying way to cap things off and I would say completely at odds with how serious it took itself for most of the rest of the episodes with all its pretentious preaching.
Reminds me a lot of Magical Destroyers ending where it thumbed its nose at the audience thinking that anything it said actually meant anything, any of its characters had any substance, and anything that happened meant anything at all, including the ad to go play the game. But this one has been out for a couple of years instead of being a live service thing that would launch and shutter within like two weeks. Joke’s on me, I guess, for assuming that the imagery and direction was ever in pursuit of anything or had any purpose, and not merely affectations towards meaning.
