Cygames have today confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, known as Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition, is now available to purchase digitally for £39.99 / $49.99 from the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition contains all content previously released for the game on other platforms, such as Deluxe Character Pass 1 and Deluxe Character Pass 2, as well as the new character Id from Granblue Fantasy Relink.
Unlike Granblue Fantasy Relink, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is an arcade styled fighting game developed by Arc System Works and features 1-v-1 gameplay in both offline and online modes and features both a unique story mode and a party mode called Gran Bruise Legends. This Nintendo Switch 2 version also introduces Super Ultimate+ Mode and Gyro controls. Online multiplayer, which is a core aspect of arcade-styled fighting games, is also cross-play compatible with PlayStation4, PlayStation 5 and Steam owners, so all platforms can take to the skyrealm and do battle with one another.

Early Purchase Bonus: Sandalphon’s Reverent Attire Costume: Those who purchase Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition before the 12th January 2027 will be able to receive the Reverent Attire costume for Sandalphon. This costume can be used in battle and in the fiture studio.

Version 2.60 Update:
The arrival of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 also introduces a new Version 2.60 update for all platforms. This new update ensures that past PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC versions of the game are on par with the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. Of course, those wishing to play as Id (who is included in the Legendary Edition on Nintendo Switch 2) will need to purchase him seperately from the PlayStation Store and Steam for £6.49 if you own the base game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. Discontinuation of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising FREE Edition:
The press release for the launch of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Legendary Edition also mentioned that the ‘FREE EDITION’ of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, which is currently available to download from PlayStation Store and Steam, will be discontinued from the 1st November 2026. The Free Edition of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising allowed players to play offline and online with a rolling selection of characters and gave players a taste of what to expect from the full game. Sadly, from 1st November 2026 this FREE EDITION will no longer be available to download and those that do have it downloaded will not be able to play it. That being said, the base game has today been reduced in price to £19.99, so everyone can enjoy the full base game experience at a new low price.
