Following on from our social media post yesterday on X (previously known as Twitter), about a potential delay to Evangelion 3.0, Anime Limited have now confirmed that all editions of Evangelion 3.0+1.11: Thrice Upon a Time have been delayed until 20th November 2023. The title was originally scheduled to be released on 30th October 2023.
Confirmation of the delay was sent via e-mail to those who pre-ordered the title directly from the Anime Limited Store (thanks @dDeano_45114 for the confirmation) with online retailers at Amazon UK, Anime-On-line and HMV already displaying the updated release date. According to Anime Limited the change of release date is due to a delay in receiving the disc masters and to allow sufficient time for reproduction of those masters, as shown below:
Sadly, due to delays with receipt of the disc masters for this title beyond our control, this has necessitated us moving this release to the date mentioned above to allow sufficient time for disc production. Please rest assured that we’re working tirelessly to complete production of this product as soon as possible.
In short, Anime Limited had not received the disc masters needed for production of the release, but with the masters now (hopefully) in possession they can begin production and distribution of the title. Given that only a month extra has been given it is possible that the title might be delayed further (as production in the build-up to Christmas and New Year has lead to delays before), but for the time being at least the new release date for Evangelion 3.0+1.11: Thrice Upon a Time is the 20th November 2023.
