The Crunchyroll App continues to find new homes on Smart TV’s, as the app has now been made available for compatible Whale TV devices.
Until now I’ve not heard of Whale TV, but it is reportedly an independent TV operating system that makes TVs smart and simple to use. The OS launched in 2011 and Whale TV has worked with more than 400 TV brands and enables over 44M monthly active TVs around the world to help consumers discover, find and watch their favorite entertainment through its unique system. Today’s announcement expands that reach into anime, with the Crunchyroll App now become available on compatible Whale TV devices.
Whale TV grows its content line-up and continues its mission to provide audiences with the most engaging, global entertainment experiences through its easy-to-use TV OS, as Lucas Huang, VP Content Distribution at Whale TV, explains:
“Anime is a rapidly growing entertainment category worldwide, that is evolving from a niche into a mainstream phenomenon. By launching Crunchyroll on Whale TV, we are giving fans another great way to enjoy their favorite stories on the biggest screen in the home.”
With the arrival of Crunchyroll on compatible Whale TV devices it means that even more viewers can enjoy anime content directly from the TV. As a reminder Crunchyroll does require a subscription to view the latest content, but you can download the app and view the catalog without having a subscription. Further details about Crunchyroll can be found on the official website while details about Hisense’s VIDAA platform can be found here.
