Anime Limited, in partnership with Toho International, have today confirmed through a new trailer that GODZILLA MINUS ZERO, which is a direct sequel to the highly successful GODZILLA MINUS ONE, will release slightly earlier than previously announced. The film will now debut on IMAX screens across the UK from 3rd November 2026, with the wider cinematic release taking place on 6th November 2026.
It’s unclear why the release date has been brought forward for the IMAX version of the film, but the film is the first Japanese production to be “Filmed in IMAX” and 3rd November 2026 is GODZILLA DAY in Japan. The IMAX release being brought forward to 3rd November 2026 also means that the film will release on the same day in the UK and Japan.
Synopsis: GODZILLA MINUS ZERO picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. Additionally confirmed out of CinemaCon, Ryunosuke Kamiki, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, returns as Koichi Shikishima, and is joined by Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo.
Written, and Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, with VFX also managed by Takashi Yamazaki, GODZILLA MINUS ONE is reportedly a project filmed For IMAX, with it shot using high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, as well as optimized in sound and imagery unique to IMAX screens. In short it is a film that should be seen on IMAX screens for the best experience.
Those interested in seeing the film even earlier can also look forward to a special advance screening as part of the London Film Festival in October. During this festival GODZILLA MINUS ZERO will be screened in IMAX at the BFI in London on 14th October 2026. A standard showing will also take place at the Prince Charles Cinema in London on the 16th October 2026. Tickets go on sale for these screenings from 17th September 2026 through the BFI website.
In the meantime GODZILLA MINUS ZERO is scheduled to be released in IMAX on the 3rd November 2026 with its general cinema release taking place on 6th November 2026. Tickets will become available to purchase at a later date, with availability becoming available through the official GODZILLA FILM website.
