Sentenced to be a Hero #05 — Noisy Dexter

Don’t love the introduction of sniper rifles.

Impressions:

Another episode of all setup, with the now patented moments of really bizarre over-animation slapped in at random points. Some was especially dumb too, like suddenly talking about an evil cult and how they couldn’t possibly exist a minute or two before they metaphorically jumped right out openly, making it questionable that they were ever secret to begin with. But also, an evil cult is impossible to believe? Come on. Also, right as things were kicking off… twenty one minutes in, was also when the credits started being slapped over the entire screen, so you get both it looking like ass, and a reminder that nothing is going to be happening this week. Not the smartest way to end things.

The assassin dude was probably the highlight of the episode, mainly for his characterization having something of a lighter touch. Less so for him being revealed to not actually being any kind of bad guy, only killing people he wouldn’t feel guilty if they died and being sort of yelly. Basically an obnoxious Dexter. Though even then, was tortured and drugged into the assassin lifestyle, so the whole thing is still fairly nonsensical. Same with handing a bunch of convicts heavy arms for that matter. How did that not immediately end with them all trying to escape exactly? They don’t have the Suicide Squad hero death tattoos. Guess they’re probably also noble criminals.
