Is the Japanese food industry okay?
Impressions:
Oh boy, we get the yelly kind of jokes and a whole episode about the glory of traditional Japanese foods. It’s like that maid show, if you distorted her limbs until she became a Lovecraftian monster. And gave her an obnoxious voice. Well, more obnoxious. And on top of that, didn’t even do the food porn that it’s pretending to be about. That wouldn’t make things any better, but at least I could say you’re trying at something.
We’ve definitely reached the point in the season premieres where I’m worn down by the same things over and over, and feel out of anything meaningful to say in the face of so much repetition. It’s another very shouty comedy based on overreactions to the most mundane things. “Is pasta okay?” “NO, PASTA IS NOT OKAY! I WANT TRADITIONALY JAPANESE FOOD.” True comedy here when shouted in a funny voice by a bird monster. If the premise of “has bird monster with silly voice” is enough for you, then great. Have at it. There’s little redeeming about this episode besides that.
