Oh boy. Yelling.
I did look at the second episodes of the trash cat show and the heavy knight thing. Shockingly, GoHands’s unique animation stylings are NOT in fact a positive enough to make the whole cheat power crap stomachable, if they’re even a positive in the first place. And the cat thing? Well, let’s say that the second episode introduced two more characters, reefer cat and loose cat. Neither indicates that they’d be peeing all over each other, and yet… I think I’m good.
Impressions:
This was a step down from the first episode too, mainly because the new character is exhausting. She’s a screaming fangirl of the monster form who overreacts to everything, same as every other ‘comedy’ character in anime these days. Whereas last episode, it split the focus between introducing the protagonist, the obligatory pretty boy, the premise, and a kaijuu segment, this was entirely just on the girl, mostly yelling announcement of how much of a fangirl she is.
Some fifteen minutes in, we finally switch gears off her and instead… do the over the top bullies being ridiculous nonsense bullies. Even that gets interrupted by the new girl yelling, not to mention the pretty boy takes their bullying as his own personal failing. Not that he should chastise them for being petty brats, but that he needs to emote in her general direction even more. Nothing new or different from last time. Certainly not since they haven’t interacted at all, and he’s had maybe 15 seconds of screentime thus far. Just declare that he wants to be friends, but even friendsier. Way to not develop things at all while making plenty of noise about how you totally want to.
