Electricity Catalog #02 — Slowly Flowing Currents

This really took them hours to overcome?

Impressions:

I glanced at this, thought to myself “Man, this looks way more exciting than the first episode.” Multiple chase scenes. Hang gliding. Tormenting a baby. Boy, was that a letdown. It was still better than the first episode, simply because it wasn’t entirely focused on highlighting the completely nonsensical setting and was more of three idiots running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Emphasis on idiots, because the antagonist dude in particular is nonstop screaming overreactions for ‘comedy,’ and keeps yelling that he doesn’t care about anything but the titular book, while at the same time, every time he gets his grubby mitts on it, completely ignores it. Why? So that we can end the episode in the same place that we ended last week’s episode, with him having captured them and not actually looking at the book.

Every other character is also inconsistent at best. The protagonist swings wildly between overreactionary and despair despite now knowing exactly where the book is and who has it. It’s gone FOREVER WITH NO HOPE OF EVER SEEING IT AGAIN! My guy. It’s a book. That in the absolute worst case, is owned by a dude that lives down the street. You could probably get access to it without even resorting to larceny. And then there’s the underlings. One is some kind of super ninja with the ability to brush against people and render them unconscious, while also needing hours to catch up to a box in a placidly flowing river. And the other has literal blown top berserk rages, which they use mainly for the joke about him accidentally throwing his stinky boot at a baby. That whole mystical steam/electricity world tone they seemed to be going for last week? I guess they got tired of that. It’s a mess.
