Online retail listings at Amazon UK and Anime-On-Line have revealed that Crunchyroll are planning to release KAIJU NO. 8: MISSION RECON as a Steelbook Edition Blu-Ray on the 19th October 2026 within the UK.
KAJI NO.8: MISSION RECON is a compilation film that recaps the events of the first season into a more streamlined cinematic experience for everyone to enjoy. Those that saw the film in cinemas last year may also remember that the episode Hoshina’s Day Off was also included as an added bonus, but sadly it looks like that episode will not be included with this Blu-Ray release and will most likely be saved for a future Season 2 release.

Synopsis: The omnibus film Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon features an action-packed recap of season one. In a Kaiju-filled Japan, Kafka Hibino works in monster disposal. As a reminder Kaiju No. 8 is adapted from the original manga created by Naoya Matsumoto, with animation produced by Production I.G (GHOST IN THE SHELL), with kaiju artwork and design supervision by Studio Khara (Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition, Shin Godzilla Pre Visualization Development). This film also debuts a new ending theme song, “Invincible” by OneRepublic, an American pop rock band that also provided the opening song for the first season of the TV anime.
This Steelbook Edition Blu-Ray of KAIJU NO. 8: MISSION RECON is currently scheduled to be released on the 19th October 2026 and is currently available to pre-order at Amazon UK and Anime-On-Line.
