Caramelise #03 — Date Episode Redux

The whole show is just going to be this episode on loop, isn’t it?

If you’re wondering how the X-Men capture-the-flag show developed in its second episode, instead of capture the flag, they split up and did 1v1 physical challenges. So… no.

Impressions:

Which leaves this for Wednesdays/Thursdays, and it’s already starting to grate quite a lot. The first episode had some charm for the sincerity and earnestness the characters showed each other. Their willingness to change, to see the better in each other, and hope/work for the better. But if you’re going to get stuck in a rut of them constantly grossly misinterpreting things and misunderstanding solely to maintain the status quo… the status quo of will-they/won’t-they, it loses that. And I find it obnoxious, not cute.

Worse than that, it’s repetitive. This entire fifteen minute date is just a retread of last week’s episode, but with the kajiuu parts cut even more to make more, which is just making more time for the tedious self-debasement. Even if it was cute for them to constantly be nihilistic to the point of screaming until a ‘comical’ misunderstanding, after the seventh time across three episodes, it’s tiresome. Wouldn’t it be better if they were just genuine? Honest? If they could move forward and develop? Don’t give me a millimeter and claim it’s a mile.
