Crunchyroll have recently announced, and informed Crunchyroll subscribers through email, that the current Crunchyroll Store will be transitioning to a new curated shopping experience in August. Unfortunately this brand-new shopping experience will not only be exclusive to Mega-Fan subscription holders, but it will also remove some of the perks that subscribers currently receive.
Originally the Crunchyroll Store was an online eCommerce platform that allowed anyone to buy merchandise, soundtracks, clothing, and Blu-Rays just like any other retailer. Those that subscribed to the Crunchyroll platform would also receive added perks, such as a lowered threshold for free postage (£45 instead of £65) and discounts on items depending on your subscription tier. In short, the store was just another retailer, with perks being offered for being a Crunchyroll subscriber.
However, in August that is all going to change. At some point in August, potentially on the 14th August 2026, the store will become inaccessible to anyone without a Mega-Fan subscription to the Crunchyroll platform. Additionally, the store discount offered for being a Mega-Fan subscription will be removed. At the moment the only benefit that will remain in place is the lowered postage tier, which doesn’t feel like much of a benefit.
The Important Details:
In August, Mega Fan members will have the ability to purchase curated, exclusive products from the new Crunchyroll Store.
Shipping benefits for Mega Fan members remain the same.
Existing benefits for store discounts available with Mega Fan memberships will end on August 14, 2026, as we transition to this new member-exclusive store experience.
All open orders will continue to ship as normal.
Sales made before the transition are final, unless the product is damaged or defective.
This change to the Crunchyroll store is essentially moving the store behind a paywall, which is a rather unusual decision. A Mega-Fan subscription currently costs £6.99 a month (or £69.99 a year) and includes access to Crunchyroll’s streaming platform and the game vault on iOS and Android devices.
Personally I have never used the Crunchyroll Store, but it is a store that is used by people from across the globe as their go-to-point for anime merchandise, so it is a big change especially as the availability of products should be accessible to all rather than selected members. An FAQ on the official Crunchyroll support site also shares further details on what will happen with existing orders and other account information, so its well worth checking before the change occurs.
