All Four “Rebuild of Evangelion” Films Set To Be Removed from Amazon Prime

It’s been five years since Amazon added all four “Rebuild of Evangelion” films, which consist of Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo and Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, to its Prime Video platform, and in less than 30 days they are all expected to be removed.

All four films are currently in the “expiring within 30 days” category of Prime Video, but do not currently have a date on when they will be removed. With the films now appearing in the “expiring within 30 days” category I would assume Amazon secured a five year streaming license, which if so, would mean that they will be removed around the 12th August 2026. It’s also possible that the license may be renewed, especially as Amazon helped produce new English Dubs for the film, but we won’t know for certain until later next month.

For those unaware the films became available to stream globally (excluding Japan) on Amazon Prime Video on the 13th August 2021, after Amazon secured an exclusive deal with the rights holders, and since then have been readily available to stream on the Prime Video Platform in dub and sub formats.

If the films do get removed from Amazon Prime within the next 30 days it means that four important pieces of cinematic anime history will no longer be easily accessible in the UK. Evangeion 1.11: You are (Not) Alone, Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo were previously released on Blu-Ray and DVD (using the FUNimation English Dub) from Manga Entertainment and are now out of print. Anime Limited did re-release Evangeion 1.11: You are (Not) Alone and release Evangelion: 3.0+1.11: Thrice Upon A Time, but again these are both out of print with remaining stock at retailers.

As it stands it is once again “Bye, Bye, All of Evangelion” as Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo and Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time are set to be removed from Amazon Prime in the next 30 days. If you’ve yet to watch any of the films then I would advise to do so just incase they do get removed from the Amazon Prime Video platform.
