Another weekend, another addition to the Disney+ platform, as the “house of mouse” have once again expanded its anime selection by adding the first season of Classroom of the Elite and the feature-length-film Makoto Shinkai film Weathering With You. Both titles are available to stream in dubbed and subbed format.
Classroom of the Elite: Welcome to the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, a facility dedicated to fostering the best and brightest for the future of Japan. Here, students are given nearly complete freedom—but at a cost. To survive, they’ve got to get the grades, stay out of trouble, and be the very best, lest they be left with nothing.
Weathering With You: In the summer of the first year of high school, Hodaka runs away from his home on a remote island and arrives in Tokyo. However, he soon becomes destitute. After many lonely days, he finally finds a job as a writer for a dubious occult magazine. As if hinting at his future, it continues to rain day after day. In the midst of all this, in a corner of the crowded city, Hodaka meets a girl. Her name is Hina, and she lives a cheerful and resolute life with her younger brother, despite their circumstances. Hina has a mysterious ability. She tells Hodaka that the skies are about to clear. Then, the rain gradually stops, and the cityscape begins to glow beautifully. She has the power to make the sun shine just by praying.
As it stands only the first season for Classroom of the Elite has been added, and it seems to be added in partnership with Crunchyroll due to the fact that the Cruchyroll logo appears before the episodes start (just like with My Hero Academia). The addition of Weathering With You meanwhile is part of the deal between Anime Limited and Disney+ where iconic anime films are being added to the platform.
In the meantime both Classroom of the Elite (Season 1) and Weathering With You can be streamed on Disney+ in dubbed and subbed format in the UK with more titles expected in the near future. As a reminder a Disney+ subscription is required to view content on the platform.
