Impressions:
Well, at least they bothered to animate some of the fight for once. Gotta end on a high note. Not end the fight on a high note. That ended on the usual large explosion into cloud of dust as every other fight the last ten episodes has been. Or start on a high note either, with another backstory flashback where the baddie reveals that her only weakness is magic fire girls, which she’s conveniently never brought up or cared about at any point. Wow. Very subtle. Not at all contrived or idiotic. Shiina pops in after some more torture porn where she’s just straight up immune to swords and stabbing, and after a single punch, unveils form 3 and that’s the part they animated a bit. At least in the sense of having CGI tentacles and CGI debris coming from off screen while one character at a time flits about between them. Or for the other, bullets, which aren’t CGI, they’re just glowing lines. For this series’s standards, that’s master cinematography.
Also, special shoutout to the franchise cast members. Nanoha and Fate continued shelling a goddamned tree, and Hayate was around to serve a warrant. Cool. Great use for this cast. Where we we have been without their thrilling contributions to the story? Remember those five seconds the Wolkenritter showed up? This sure was a Nanoha series, wasn’t it. Otherwise, there might still be a tree that wasn’t shot with artillery from 500 feet away.
