In November it was revealed that Film4 were planning to broadcast YOUR NAME and WEATHERING WITH YOU on UK TV in the middle of December, and now thanks to updated programme pages on the Channel 4 website we know the exact date, time and language of each film.
In short, both films will be broadcast on consecutive days in Japanese (with English subtitles) at around 11pm, with each film becoming available to stream on Channel 4 after its broadcast on TV. The full details of each showing can also be found outlined below.
Thursday 14th December 2023:
11pm – Your Name [Japanese with English subtitles]
Friday 15th December 2023:
11:10pm – Weathering With You [Japanese with English subtitles]
As a reminder this will be the first time that either film has been shown on UK TV, and more importantly it will be on a channel that is easily accessible within the UK. Film4 is not only broadcast on Freeview (Channel 14), but is also available on Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media with the channel also available to stream online. A +1 channel is also available on Freeview and Satellite services.
If you’ve yet to see either of these films, then now would be the perfect chance. It’s also worth mentioning that Film4 will be broadcasting Studio Ghibli’s THE RED TURTLE on Saturday 2nd December 2023 at 12:40pm. In meantime both YOUR NAME and WEATHERING WITH YOU are available in the UK on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray via Anime Limited (otherwise known as All The Anime).
