At least it’s not full on porn like Food Wars.
Two more premieres to go today, but I need to do some other stuff for a little bit.
Impressions:
This is not the show I would’ve pegged to put more than the barest token effort into its animation. Or maybe it’s just how horrendously animated so many of these fantasy shows that ARE supposedly focused on the action have been that even the smallest amount of effort feels significant. But it does maintain it through most of the episode. It’s not going to show up on any animation highlight reels, but it is at least fairly animated and expressive. Not to the level of something like Bocchi, but better than average.
But that’s probably where the compliments end and the screaming begins. Good god, the screaming. Almost every punchline is punctuated with the princess yelling “AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” Usually after a long bit of food porn about how much she loves… toast, takoyaki, or ramen, which is an… eclectic collection of Japanese foods for this ostensibly western setting. After the intro, each one gets its six minutes to fawn over, scream, and then the sword laments sadly. The formula is already fairly stale, even when the screaming gets slightly more tolerable by losing a few decibels.
