It is the news that many LG Smart TV owners (including myself) have been waiting for, but an official Crunchyroll App is now available for compatible LG Smart TV’s and can be downloaded from the LG Content Store.
Until now the only way for LG Smart TV Owners to watch Crunchyroll on their TV was to have the the Crunchyroll app downloaded onto their console, screen share their smartphone to the TV or via a computer. While these are all perfectly viable options a dedicated app on the TV makes much more sense, especially as a FUNimation app was available for LG Smart TVs. Regardless, Crunchyroll have today that the app is now available to download from the LG Content Store, as Kaliel Roberts, Chief Product Officer at Crunchyroll, explains:
“Our new partnership with LG makes it even easier to be an anime fan. Anime offers a variety of genres and viewing adventures and now viewers have even more options to dive deeper.”
We can also confirm that the Crunchyroll App is available to download on the LG Content Store in the UK and is working, with the app itself operating in the same way as the console apps. As a reminder Crunchyroll does require a subscription to view the latest content, but you can download the app and view the catalog without having account.
