Legendary manga artist, and the creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, has sadly passed away at the age of 68. Akira Toriyama died on 1st March 2024 as a result of a acute subdural hematoma, which is described as a type of bleeding near the brain, with the news of his death being shared across official Dragon Ball channels today.
Born in 1955, Akira Toriyama created the popular manga series Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, with Dragon Ball becoming his most successful and popular manga that evolved into sequel series (Dragon Ball Z), anime adaptations, games and movies. Akira Toriyama also worked with Square Enix as character designer on game franchises such as Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon.
