It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen an arcade game ported to home console, a feat that happened regularly during the 80s and 90s when arcade games were powerful than consoles, but publisher GameMill Entertainment have recently announced that they will be releasing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants onto the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (via steam) on 23rd April 2024.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants was originally an arcade game released in 2017 as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and was developed by RAW Thrills as a tie-in game to the popular 3D animated Nickelodeon TV Series of the same name. Interestingly the game hit arcades the same year as the final season of the series began its TV broadcast, but more importantly this arcade game attempted to replicate the arcade experience of the 90’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games released by KONAMI whereby up to 4 players could play at once and battle against iconic characters from the series in a side-scrolling beat-em-up style.
Now, fast forward seven years, and GameMill Entertainment are porting this arcade game to consoles (and Windows PC) as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants. This console release of the arcade game will retain all of the aspects found in the original arcade version, including the voice cast, but will expand upon it with 3 additional stages and 6 additional boss battles. Additionally the game will receive a budget physical release on all console platforms, as well as a digital release on Windows PC (via Steam).
