Do all teachers get a free pass to murder any student they feel like?
Impressions:
There’s little else on Sundays, but this is still just being utterly generic shounen Harry Potter with just a bit better animation, and not exciting me to continue with it at all. This week only really introduced Dumbledorette, who is happy to allow her faculty to attempt to murder students if they don’t like them. So Not-Snape goes off to scream about his personal supremacy over all lesser beings. Apparently that’s not an issue for this benevolent old lady. Just boys being boys. Also, why did it slap up in that flashback at the start that they were ten year olds and then have them all with deep voices? Have you forgotten what ten year olds actually sound like, anime?
Anyway, this week it’s the whole cliche “land one blow” on me thing, which is actually about 95% one side ranting about their caste supremacy, while the other side internally rants about how much power level he has and how impressive everything is while everybody’s actually standing still. Break it down, and one dude shoots lasers about four times, and the other kicks once. That’s more than enough for at least five minutes of rambling nonsense before we get another brief spike of animation into corny explosion to reveal that a little bitty scratch happened off-screen, as they always do. It wasn’t how you construct a compelling fight; just ranting about power levels on both sides until spontaneously, it was over and everybody wandered off.
