Wistoria #04 — “I’m Here to Do Some Racism”

Without any animation, this gets immeasurable worse real fast.

Impressions:

Boy, that week off certainly didn’t help the script, or animation for that matter. What a tedious, awfully paced episode. The first half may as well have been on a loop explaining the following two factoids. 1.) There is a magic festival, where it is magic, and 2.) It happens every two years. Maybe a 2.5 where you get to auto-graduate if somebody important enough likes you, which they’re treating as some kind of impressive thing but is just nepotism, and is also the exact thing that we did one episode prior. Great. You’ve spent an entire 10 minutes explaining that you’re about to re-do the thing that you literally just did. And that the festival only happens every other year. Seriously, guys. Why is this something that needs to be brought up at least fourteen times?

But we don’t have our antagonist yet, and so yet another random classist bully with a mental age of five kicks in the door to start screaming about how classist he is. Not just that, but how racist he is too. So, so racist. Nothing he loves more than to go to the dwarf part of town to do a whole bunch of racism and commit mass murder, which is not against school rules because that’s just how things are. Same as the other three human antagonists, and since the third episode was a giant ice monster, basically just an amalgamation of all the foes of the week so far. Who needs creativity? Well, if you’re going to be giving up on the animation, I would reckon you do.
