Very, very ugly.
That’s the two originals down, four to go… in an hour or two. On to the reincarnation stuff next, so nowhere to go but down from here.
Impressions:
The death flags were certainly flying at full mast from the start of the episode, though they could’ve definitely done a better job setting up Chesty running off for the noble sacrifice, especially considering how upsettingly ugly that entire scene was. Ugly in a good way. It well-conveyed her having a complete breakdown and sobbing about being scared to die. Just that there probably should’ve been a better reason for her to go running off on her own in the first place, and transition from confidently being able to handle it to faltering confidence and complete breakdown.
But of course, the one to eventually get stabbed was blondie instead, though with all the various shenanigans already going on, I’m not confident they’re relegating the headliner to flashbacks by the second episode. But I appreciate not being sure of that, so I guess GoHands being crazy lunatics may be working for them for once, or the stars aligned and they’re finally putting together a decent script. We’ll see though. All that said, I could still do without the entire cooking segments, and the start of the episode review of all characters and weapons was less than the most engaging part. I’d much rather have seen that gone into setting up the dramatic stuff later which clearly had some issues. Budget’s staying locked at high too though, which is always nice to see.
