Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate Release Delayed Until April 2025

Rocket Panda Games have recently revealed that Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate (PBBGU), which is a remastered version of the 2D side-scrolling action game, will now be released on 17th April 2025. The game was previously expected to release on 13th February 2025, but due to issues with implementing cross-play functionality the game has ultimately been pushed back.

Built from the ground-up using Unreal Engine 5, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate is a side-scrolling arcade styled beat-em-up game that will support local, online and versus modes for up to 8 players. Additionally, the main Arcade Mode will now allow players to battle as enemies, rather than the protagonists, and include an option to enjoy the original soundtrack or a remixed variation.

A physical edition, which will only be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 platforms, is also planned for release in Europe through PQube and will see the game presented in physical packaging alongside an exclusive card, a manual and DLC skin.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate will be available PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC (via Steam) on 14th April 2025 with further details available on the official website. This physical edition will also be available on the same day for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
