Specific details have yet to be confirmed for the UK, but Bandai Namco Entertainment have taken to social media (on both Europe and UK accounts) to reveal that Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- will be coming to cinemas across Europe in March.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest anime entry into the long running Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, and is a collaboration project between studio khara, the studio most famous for Neon Genesis Evangelion, and SUNRISE, who are of course known for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- brings together the first selection of episodes (from Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX) and presents it as a feature-length-film before its TV (and streaming) debut later this year.
Synopsis: Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space. When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era.
Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for his work with Anno on the EVANGELION series, with Yoji Enokido, who works include Revolutionary Girl Utena and Bungo Stray Dogs, as screenwriter. Hideaki Anno is also involved with the project for the film (and series) screenplay.
While Bandai Namco Entertainment have confirmed that the film will receive a European cinema release (on both UK and European social media accounts) later this year it’s not known who will be handling it. In the past Anime Limited did work with Bandai Namco Entertainment to release Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom into UK cinemas, so it is possible that they will be involved with this film (although this is just speculation on our part). For the time being at least, we will just have to wait for more details.
