Ninja & Assassin #03 — Job Hunting

In this economy?

Impressions:

Eh. I think the funniest part was the absolutely unhinged smile on the employment ad in the first shot of the episode. It was pretty much all downhill from there. I’m also not sure what was going on with the transitions into the OP and ED at all. They were astoundingly abrupt and awkward, like they forgot to have a joke or even anything ending the scene there. The one at the end especially. The gag character of the week died, and capitalism moves on without her, uncaring and unfeeling. And now, bubblegum pop where she hops around merrily. Uh… sure.

Largely the same as last week. We get one new recurring character, the girlfriend of the previous new character, who’s the same kind of airhead, but more feminine. And… that’s it. Even the stuff about the job hunt or getting a job as a criminal cleaner weren’t used for much of anything except making silly faces. The latter especially has been a deep well for the indie game market to go to in recent years with all the powerwash/cleaning simulator type games, so you’d think that they’d be able to steal some jokes from there. Even the premise didn’t make much sense given the existence of a gig economy. And you can’t say that it just happened before that when it introduces the whole thing with a career in dog walking. I miss the retro gags and actual animation, yet doubt we’ll see them from this show again.
